Camping Food 2010

Tina and I went camping for 4th of July. Actually, it was luxury camping in the sense that we had a cabin on a private island (still, no electricity or indoor plumbing). We still cooked over an open fire.

Like Bittman recently pointed out, a truly grilled cheese sandwich must be cooked on a grill. Here’s a lovely grilled cheese sandwich with fresh basil, tomato and pickles.

Also, french toast over the open fire with blueberries.

Note, be careful not to expose olive oil to open flame!

Other than that, we went with the normal camp-out fare of veggie burgers and sausages, breakfast potatoes and eggs, etc.
