Keeping it Real?

With our budget over $8 due to our New Year’s Eve festivities, I’m wondering if we should try to only spend $22 next week. Comments?

Gak! Maybe we should do a little post-NYE pantry inventory first!

  2. tinaspins says:

C’mon. We can live off beans and carrots for a few days.

I don’t see why not….it should be a quiet week, no?

  4. tinaspins says:

    I hope so!

  5. P says:

I hope the houseguest who’s staying with us for the week is down with that diet. He’s technically still a grad student, so maybe this will be a step up for him.

I wouldn’t sweat it. It’s to be expected to be at least a slight bit lavish for a celebration. I think part of being frugal is rewarding yourself for a job well done from time to time.

  7. Emily Walter says:

Try it. The whole thing is supposed to be a challenge, right?

  8. Di Hickman says:

I say try it, BUT don’t beat yourself up if you can’t do it!

  9. P says:

Yeah, it’s sometimes a fine balance between wanting to challenge ourselves and not wanting to miss out on delicious meals by eating carrot and bean mush for three straight days.

And sometimes I think, have we really gotten ourselves into the position where we’re making excuses to our own blog?

Anyway, sure, a $22/week super-challenge? Bring it on.
